Donovan M. Powell is a native son of Leon West Virginia and has always been proud to call the state of West Virginia home. He graduated Cum Laude from Marshall University where he was a member of the Phi Alpha Theta Honor Society and obtained his B.A. with focuses in History, Political Science, and Physical Geography. After graduating from Marshall, he pursued his Juris Doctorate at the University of Louisville’s Louis D. Brandeis School of Law where he graduated in the spring of 2020. While attending law school he clerked for a plaintiff’s firm where he gained litigation experience in civil rights and personal injury law. He also spent a summer clerking for Legal Aid of West Virginia as a Samuel L. Greenebaum Public Service Fellow and spent his winter breaks at the Mason County Prosecutor’s Office. Shortly after earning his J.D. Donovan returned home and sat for the West Virginia bar exam which he passed and was subsequently sworn in and admitted as a member of the West Virginia Bar. Starting out his career as a new attorney he began as a solo practitioner in Point Pleasant and shortly thereafter joined Pullin, Fowler, Flanagan, Brown, and Poe as an associate attorney focusing on litigation.

In his free time, he takes pleasure in the study of history, staying active, and spending time outdoors with family and friends. He enjoys being involved in the community as much as time allows and in 2018 founded and continues as President of the Point Pleasant Wrestling Alumni Association. The Association helps support the Point Pleasant Wrestling Team, encourages leadership, and gives new graduates a network and support for their future endeavors after high school.
