Jonathon Hanson is from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and was raised by parents from West Virginia. He started working in his family’s small businesses from the age of twelve, and he has experienced a wide variety of jobs in various settings. Growing up, he trained in the martial art of Japanese swordsmanship. Jon studied at Marshall University and graduated cum laude with a B.B.A. in International Economics in 2017. While at Marshall, Jon served as Chancellor of his school chapter of the Delta Sigma Pi International Business Fraternity.

Jonathon subsequently attended West Virginia University College of Law under a full scholarship, where he took great interest in bankruptcy, labor, and employment law. During law school, Jon had the opportunity to clerk in-house at a diversified industrial corporation in Pittsburgh and then interned at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Wheeling. Both of those summer positions provided valuable insight into litigation and complex issues.

Also during his time at WVU Law, Jon honed his legal skills through working as an assistant to a prominent solo practitioner in Teays Valley, WV. Jonathon was the only student in his graduating class to take WVU Law’s Advanced Bankruptcy course, which was taught by a federal bankruptcy judge and emphasized real-life legal negotiations. During his third year in law school, Jon worked in the WVU Law litigation clinic where he successfully filed a Chapter 7 bankruptcy. From 2020 to 2021, he also represented his law school in the WVU Student Government Association as WVU Law’s elected College Senator.

Jon currently resides in Martinsburg, West Virginia and is excited to explore his newly adopted hometown. Jon is passionate about nature, world news, wine, tea, meditation, fine art, gaming, and history. Jonathon is a strong proponent of hiring and mentoring diverse talent in the legal profession.
